Established under Public Act 196, DATA Bus began providing Public Transportation Services in partnership with Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) in September 1989.  In its  first year of Customer Service Operations DATA Bus exceeded its five year growth projection. In nearly 20 years of operations DATA Bus has provided over 1.5 million rides while traveling over 5 million miles.

In 1997 DATA Bus moved Bus Maintenance and Customer Service Operations into a new 12,500 SF Inter-Modal Transportation Facility. This was funded by Federal (80%) & State (20%) investments in the amount of $850,000.
