Charter Service/Specialized Service:

Due to Federal Charter rule changes in January of 2008 Transit agencies can not provide (chartered) transportation at the request of a third party for exclusive use of a bus or van for a negotiated price due to federal regulations.  This rule does not allow DATA provide service for weddings, parties and other service that would not fall under specialized service that is exempt from the charter rules.


Specialized Service may be requested for government officials on official government business or qualified human service organizations(example: persons with mobility limitations related to advanced age; with disabilities; or with low income). An adult foster care home outing for dinner or senior center sponsored outings are examples of specialized service. Agreements are made with the customer requesting the service and DATA Bus identifying the terms and customer requirements of the specialized service.


Specialized Service Fees:

Specialized Service fees involving multiple customers are based on $40.00 per hour billed in 15 minutes increments ( 1/4 Hour = $10.00) from time of scheduled arrival at pick up location to time of complete unload at final destination, including all stops and waiting times.  If the the specialized service can not be provided during normal service times and areas, there is a two hour minimum charge then billed in 15 minutes increments after the 2 hour minimum.

When Should You Make Your Specialized Service Request
It is important to request service as early as possible. Requests for service are contingent on availability of drivers and vehicles. Services may be cancelled with no penalty one working day (Monday through Friday 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM - except Holidays) prior to date of service.

What Information is Needed When Making a Specialized Service Request
Information needed when requesting Specialized Service is, date of service, number of riders, pick up location, destination location, required time of arrival at destination, and special requirements (number of wheel chairs, etc.), return trip pick up time if required.
