Demand Response Service for Escanaba and Gladstone residents is provided from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday through Friday except on Holidays. Service is dependant on availability of Buses. This is a door to door pick-up/drop off service. All Demand Response rides must be completed before 6:00 p.m.
Demand Response Service can be compared to taxi service with the exception that several additional customer pick-ups/drop-offs may be made prior to arriving at your destination.
Calls for service should be made as far in advance as possible, as available time slots do fill quickly during the day. If a return ride is anticipated, it should be scheduled whenever possible.
Our services can be busy at some times during the day, and your preferred pickup time may not always be available. Every effort is made to keep waiting time at a minimum, but no minimum waiting time can be guaranteed.
DATA Bus offers an hourly Coordinated Demand Response Route in the City of Escanaba that services the major housing complexes on an hourly basis beginning at 9:00 AM. at 5 minutes after the hour in the Willow Creek Apartments Area. From there the bus travels down towards the Harbor Tower Area for appromiately 25 minutes after the hour. The bus then travels on towards the area of the shopping centers and grocery stores at approximately 45 minutes after the hour the bus stops at Walmart. The bus can and will make several stops along the way at homes, businesses or medical centers. Calling ahead can assure you a seat since some hours have higher volume than others.
Escanaba Coordinated Demand Response Route continues hourly from 9:00AM until 3:45PM.
We also have a city shuttle that travels in a clockwise circle starting in the Woodland Trailer Court/Willow Grove/Meadowbroook Apartments area approximately 9:00/9:05 heading towards the shopping area and then out to the Bay College Area for approximately 20 minutes after the hour. Leaving there and heading through the Northeast side of the highway mostly towards the downtown area but could hit the shopping areas if necessary and able. This shuttle operates from 9:00 until approximately 4:15 making its last stop in the shopping area Monday through Friday.

DATA Bus provides Non-Emergency Medical Transportation to individuals, agencies, and organizations. This service can be dedicated, shared, or demand response (based on availability). Except for Demand Response service, Non-Emergency Medical Transportation is available at anytime with a one business day in advance request. Demand Response Non-Emergency Medical Service is based on availability of budgeted resources.
This service is available to or from most areas of the Upper Peninsula and can be one way or round trip. A capable Personal Care Assistant (PCA) may accompany individual transported if the individual requires, or may require, any personal assistance during transport.
Note: Individuals with colds, flu, or other illnesses must inform Customer Service Coordinator when making service request.
Demand Response Non-Emergency Service (Based on Availability) at the regular cash fare.
All Other Non-Emergency Medical Transportation is based on $40.00 per hour with a two hour minimum billed in 15 minutes increments after the minimum ( 1/4 Hour = $10.00) from time of scheduled arrival at pick up location to time of complete unload at final destination, including all stops and waiting times.
